The Sunnah Foods Origins

I never originally intended to start a business. My original goal was to study medicine.

Assalamualaikum, my name is Abdurahman, and I’m from Libya.

Growing up, black seed was always known to us as something beneficial. Between its incredible health benefits and the importance it holds in our tradition, I was fascinated by it.

In 2024, I came across a video showing a traditional Palestinian recipe called qizha. Curious, I decided to make it myself. Honestly, it didn’t taste the best… so I forgot about it.

About a year later, for reasons I still can’t remember, I decided to try making it again, but this time with my own twist. It wasn’t meant to be a traditional recipe anymore. I just wanted to create something I would actually enjoy eating myself.

The first versions had a strange sour candy-like taste. Interesting, but definitely not something I’d want every day.

That’s when the real experimenting began.

For over a month, I kept adjusting the recipe, testing different variations, and having friends and family try it and give honest feedback. Slowly, it turned into something smooth, creamy, and genuinely enjoyable while still retaining the powerful benefits of black seed.

Once the recipe finally felt right, my goal became simple:

People shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste to enjoy natural foods that are beneficial for them.

To make sure every jar was made with care and quality, we partnered with a farm in Alberta to help produce our blend.

Today, our creamed black seed honey is 7 store locations and inshallah will expand even further. This is made for people who care about what goes into their bodies. People looking for something natural, nourishing, and rooted in tradition without compromising on taste.
